True Link is a great idea but will have problems with the $10 price point. I am looking for a card caregivers could use for $50-$100 spending per month. That would be a 10 to 20% fee. They should have tiered offerings and be competing in the free and $4.95 markets for low spenders. You can find many competitors at those price points without the specific vendor blocking. The vendor blocking is cool and differentiates the card...but they are competing against other cards that are free or $4.95 with rewards.
To our family, the legitimate type nonprofits have been a problem. When my father was alive, he would donate to any animal or veteran's program that wrote to ask for money. His name was on every "sucker list" out there, I'm sure. I never could figure out why we needed that many veteran's organizations. There seemed to be one for every soldier. I really resented these organizations reward a donation by someone by adding them to a sucker list, requesting more and more from them. I'm sure his name was sold, because he would get solicitations from similar organizations after making a donation.
I could not take charge of the finances while my father was alive. Now it is just my mother, there is no problem. We get calls from people trying to sell things or offering it to us "free." I know this really means they are going to charge it to Medicare. I find it best to make no donations with my mother's money except the amount she gives to her church. And we won't deal with anyone who calls on the phone or knocks on the door. If we need something, we'll call the right people.
It would be nice if there weren't so many people out there trying to make a living off the vulnerable elderly. These parasites are the worst kind of people.
Pam ... you are mistaken. The Success prepaid Visa debit card does NOT charge $10 a month to use! If they did, I wouldn't be using it! The facts are that the Success card is great, and I'm saying that from my personal experience of using the card to manage my disabled sister's finances. Here are some of the benefits the Success prepaid Visa debit card offers: 5-cents cash back when you use your card on purchases of at least $10 ... cash rebates at over 1000 online retailers ... discounts and coupons on travel, entertainment, prescriptions, restaurants, groceries, and so much more! Plus, save 3-cents per gallon of gas anywhere in the USA! With the Success pre-paid Visa debit card, you can manage your own daily and weekly spending limits. This gives you a great way to manage your budget! You can also get card balance notifications via text or email at no charge! Best of all, there are NO reload, transaction, or monthly fees! Smart, well-informed seniors and caregivers love, love, love the Success prepaid Visa debit card!
I'm very happy with the Success pre-paid Visa debit card that I use to manage expenses for my senior-aged, developmentally-developed sister. The fees are very low, and I can monitor all expenses.

New Debit Card Offers Elders a Safer Way to Pay
The Success card does have fees according to the link. Better read that again.
