Find Care & Housing
Lallen, speak with the hospice provider about this. Some do provide sitters but I don't think it is consistent across the board.

Your social worker should be able to help you understand exactly what they provide and what is expected of you.

I am sorry that you are facing this. I hope that you and your mom are well served by the hospice.

Yeah Medicare won’t pay for sitters or for home health with the exception of an aide to come bathe the person on hospice. Sitting and actual caregiving is done by family members or you have to hire & pay caregivers.

Medicare does not pay for sitters. When on Hospice in a home Medicare pays foe an aide to come in and bathe. They pay for medications, Depends the Nurse or checks in the patient and some other things. They bring in a hospital bed and maybe oxygen. But they don't pay for sitters. This would have to be private pay or arrange with family members to be there. From my understanding, someone has to be with patient 24/7.
