Find Care & Housing
Update: spoke with her regular doc, and as usual he was very helpful. (As with all good things, this too shall pass: he's moving on to a different job.) He recommended we take a wait and see with the bump on her face, and he'll either get one of the nurses there to examine her ears if they can, or he will next week.

So, everything is getting sorted out.

I'm so grateful to everyone who responded with such good suggestions and their own stories. Thank you!

I have the opposite problem. My moms doctors speak directly to me and that agitates her. My mom will actually get angry with me. Do you have medical POA? If so they can communicate directly with you and with you alone!
